Yvonne Honken

July 2, 1941  -  Dec. 13, 2018   , age 77, of Raymond, died peacefully at home Thursday morning, December 13, while on in-home hospice care.   Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 17, at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, December 16, at Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg (tricountyfuneral.com) and one hour prior to the service at the church.   Yvonne Eileen Honken was born at home on July 2, 1941 to Bob and Vera Freeman in Sauk Centre, MN. She graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1958. Vonnie married Harold Honken of Raymond, MN on December 1, 1959 at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. They were married for 57 years.   Vonnie and Harold travelled with Berghuis Construction until 1967, when they began farming east of Raymond where they raised crops, hogs and cattle. She was a stay at home mom for their two children and later worked for Bernina Sewing in Willmar. Vonnie had many circles of friends through her involvement as an avid gardener, quilter, and knitter, along with active church service as a teacher, circle leader, chair of the church cook book and serving with Reformed Church Women’s events. Her most recent passion was the care ministry of Prayer Shawls.   She is survived by her children, Laura (and Todd) Mulliken of Edina, and Andrew (and Sherilyn) Honken of Raymond; five grandchildren, Joshua (and Kaitlyn) Honken, Ashley Mulliken, Allyssa (and Andrew) Wheeler, Ben (and Shannon) Honken, and Sara (and Dan) Wanous; and great grandchildren, Iris, Levi and Frankie Honken. Also surviving, is her brother, Bob Freeman, Jr (and Clare) of Clarissa; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 2016; a sister, Marie Marchkii; and a great granddaughter, Jillian Honken.
