Thresa J. Berghuis

Thresa J. Berghuis, age 95, of Prinsburg, died Tuesday morning, August 29, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, at Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Interment will be at Emden Christian Reformed Cemetery near Renville at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, at the Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Central Minnesota Christian School or Unity Christian Reformed Church are preferred. Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg. www.tricountyfuneral.com Thresa Johanna Berghuis was born on September 16, 1921 on a family farm near Brooten, Minnesota, the fifth child of Charles and Annie (Hoogeveen) Ledeboer. She grew up and received her education in the Prinsburg community. She was married to Lubert Ahrenholz and they lived on the family farm about 4 miles south of Prinsburg until Lubert's death in the spring of 1968. In the fall of 1968, she enrolled at Willmar Community College and the following year moved to Sioux Center, IA., to attend Dordt College, graduating in 1971. She returned to Prinsburg and taught at Central Minnesota Christian School for two years. In 1973, Thresa married Ed Berghuis and they lived in Denver, CO. Following Ed's death in 2001, she moved back to Prinsburg. Thresa was an avid reader and her home was always filled with many books. She also loved taking care of her flowers and garden. After returning to Prinsburg, Thresa spent a number of years volunteering at the New-2-You Thrift Store in Willmar and at Unity Christian Reformed Church, where she was a member. Thresa is survived by four children, Lyle (and Ardi) Ahrenholz of Holland, MI., Dave (and Willie) Ahrenholz of Bellingham, WA., Steve (and Deb) Ahrenholz of Champlain, Sue (and Al) Wisselink of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada; eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Gerald Ledeboer of Irving, TX, Clarence (and Janet) Ledeboer of Minneapolis and Norman (and Sharon) Ledeboer of Medicine Lake; three sisters, Ann Thrall of Minneapolis, Elva Post of Willmar and Lois Cook of Prinsburg; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Ledeboer and Frieda Ledeboer; besides other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Lubert Ahrenholz and Ed Berghuis; one daughter, Linda; one granddaughter, Christi; five brothers, Harry, Arthur in infancy, Arthur, Donald and Delroy; and two sisters, Gertrude Meyer and Marilyn Kreps.
