Sylvia Bolkema Sylvia J. Bolkema, age 89, of Willmar and formerly of Prinsburg, died Wednesday morning, March 13, at Rice Care Center in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at the First Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date at Holland Township Cemetery. Sylvia Jane Bolkema was born on September 11, 1929, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Ida (Hoffman) Marcus. She grew up in the rural Prinsburg area and received her education in a country school just south of Roseland. On May 2, 1952, Sylvia was united in marriage to George S. Bolkema. They lived and farmed south of Roseland and moved to Prinsburg in 1979. She was an active member of First Christian Reformed Church and a member of the Mission Club. Sylvia enjoyed camping and visiting with her friends. She is survived by one son, Ron Bolkema of Minneapolis; one daughter, Marsha Olson of Northfield; two grandchildren, Jordan Olson of Northfield and Chelsea (and Jeremy) Weiland of Northfield; two great granddaughters, Savannah and Mikealah Olson and one brother, Richard (and Fern) Marcus of San Jose, CA., besides other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 2005 and two brothers, Richard in 1928 and William in 1943.
