Ruth Grussing, age 93, of Clara City, died Thursday evening, Mar. 5, at Carris Health Rice Care Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 11, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 10, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Ruth Grussing was born on November 8, 1926, in Clara City, Minnesota, the daughter of Arend and Minnie (Taatjes) Brouwer. She grew up and received her education in rural Clara City. On January 31, 1945, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church, Ruth was united in marriage to Joe Grussing. They made their home in the Clara City community and Ruth worked as a homemaker. She was a life member of Bunde Christian Reformed Church and was active as a Sunday school teacher and in Ladies Aide and Bible study. Ruth was a blessing to many. Her faith carried her through many trials. Her positive attitude and kindness inspired many people. She shared her faith with whomever she came in contact with. Her family was an important and essential part of her life. She loved sharing with and about her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed cooking, baking, family, bible study, church activities and visiting with friends.
She is survived by six children, Rosalie (and Arvid) Lotthammer of Alexandria, LuVerne (and Kathy) Grussing of Juliaetta, ID., Robert (and Carol) Grussing of Caledonia, MI., Donald Grussing of Clara City, Kathy (and Calvin) Braaksma of Bozeman, MT., and Steven (and Traci) Grussing of Willmar; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mae Ryks of Willmar and Lois (and Lambert) Kleene of Willmar and one brother, Stanley (and Harriet) Brouwer of Byron Center, MI., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe in 1990; two brothers, Alvin and Lester; and one granddaughter, Alexandra in infancy.
