Marvis June (Gort) Gerdes

Marvis J. Gerdes met her Savior on Monday, Nov 8, at St Cloud Hospital with her husband at her side.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  A private interment will be held at Holland Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Central Minnesota Christian School are preferred.  Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.  www.tricountyfuneral.com

Marvis J. Gerdes was born September 27, 1933, in Prinsburg, Minnesota to Henry and Grace Gort.  She grew up and attended country school in the Prinsburg area.  On May 6, 1953, she married Virgil Gerdes and they made their home in Prinsburg.  Marvis was a member of Unity Christian Reformed Church and was active in Ladies Aide, and Mission’s Club of CMCS.  Marvis enjoyed working at New2You as a volunteer.  She also enjoyed quilting for missions, canning…especially pickles and tomato sauce.  Her home made buns was a favorite of the grandkids.

Marvis is survived by her husband Virgil of Prinsburg, for 68 years; four children, Steve (and Julie) Gerdes of Casa Grande AZ., Kim (and Fern) Gerdes of Willmar, Kathy Jaarsma of Las Vegas NV, and Keith Gerdes of Mesa AZ,; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; two brothers, Harold and Robert; and two sisters, Gladyce and Sadie.
