Marlene L. Haats, age 82, of Raymond, died Thursday morning, Feb. 27, at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 3, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Marlene Lorraine Haats was born on July 8, 1937, in Clara City, Minnesota, the daughter of Daniel and Effie (Hanson) Jaenisch. She grew up in Clara City, was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Clara City High School in 1955. On October 10, 1959, Marlene was married to Eldon “Sonny” Haats and they made their home in Raymond. In 1978, Marlene began working as a kitchen aide and cook at the Raymond Schools, retiring after 30 years in 2008. She also worked as the janitor at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking treats, making homemade soups and growing vegetable gardens. Marlene’s friends and family will truly miss her hugs and big smile.
She is survived by two children, Darla Haats and Curtis (and Pam) Haats, both of Golden Valley; two grandchildren, Alex and Ben Haats and one great granddaughter, Harper Becker. Also surviving are two brothers, Ed (and Alice) Jaenisch of Willmar and Robert (and Sharon) Jaenisch of Raymond; and one sister, Mary (and Greg) Doerr of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon “Sonny” in 2009 and a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Diane Jaenisch.
