Marjorie Bonnema Obituary

Marjorie Bonnema (Breems), age 98, of Grandville, MI, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 19, at the Brookcrest Nursing Home in Grandville.

 

A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Holland Township Cemetery in Prinsburg.   Memorial gifts should be directed to your local Christian School in her memory.  Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.   www.tricountyfuneral.com

 

Margorie was born on November 19, 1922 in Prinsburg, MN. She was the daughter of Martin K and Alice (Niewenhuis) Breems. Marge grew up in the Prinsburg community and attended the Prinsburg Christian School through the eighth grade. In her youth she worked in the Prinsburg General Store owned by her parents. On December 5, 1940 she was united in marriage to Jerry E Bonnema and they began farming west of Prinsburg. Their love of Christian Education resulted in a career change and moves to several communities with the final being Hull, IA where they lived for 18 years. After retirement they moved to Bradenton, FL. Marge enjoyed working in her garden, volunteering as community librarian, knitting, reading and puzzle books.

 

She is survived by five children, Juel (David) Reitz, Gregory (Bonnie) Bonnema, Lane (Edie) Bonnema, Wesley (Viola) Bonnema and Vincent (Diane) Bonnema; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry in 1998; her daughter, Karen in 2010; one sister, Johanna and one brother, Byron.
