Marilyn Slagter Obituary

, age 80, of Prinsburg, died Monday, August 26, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery in Prinsburg. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 29, at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Central Minnesota Christian School.     Marilyn Ruth (Bonnema) Slagter was born on March 3, 1939, to Cornelius and Bernice (Wieberdink) Bonnema in Edwards Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm north of Prinsburg and was a member of the first graduating class of Central Minnesota Christian School.   She married Forrest Alton Slagter on June 8, 1957, and spent her married life raising her five children and taking care of her 15 grandchildren and later her 22 great-grandchildren. Besides the love she had for her family, Marilyn also found joy working with disabled people, which she did for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and reading in her spare time.    She is survived by her five children Karla (Larry) Swart, Gayle (Marlyn) Tebben, Robert (Joan) Slagter, Nolan (Rhonda) Slagter, Nathan (Sheila) Slagter; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters Delores Slagter and LaVerna Marcus; and  other relatives and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Clinton Bonnema; and a great-grandchild, Hunter Tebben.   Blessed be her memory.
