Louise M Peterson, age 98, of Renville, died Tuesday evening, May 1, at RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 21 at Emden Christian Reformed Church in Renville with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday May 22, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery (Assembly Area 6). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Children’s Shelter of Cebu (PO Box 247, Cambridge, MN 55008) or Renville County Hospice (100 Healthy Way, Olivia, MN 56277).  Louise was born October 31, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN to Frederick and Caroline (Stone) Joonson. She grew up and received her education in Minneapolis. Louise attended Bethel College for one year after graduating from Edison High School. She then attended Business school and was employed as a Service Representative for Bell Telephone Co. On August 7, 1943, Louise married DelRay Peterson in Denver, CO, who, at the time, was a Marine Corp pilot stationed in California. During WWII, they were stationed in San Diego. . Their marriage was blessed with four children: DelRay Morris, Lynne Cheryl, Judith Kay, Lori Ann. After the war, Louise and DelRay lived in St. Paul, MN for most of their married life. Since DelRay was a school teacher, he had his summers free, and from 1956 to the mid 1990’s, they spent their summers at Crosslake, MN. Louise worked at Minnehaha Academy in the kitchen while Judy & Lori were attending there. When they graduated, she was employed at Bethel College as Assistant Manager at the Coffee Shop. For many years, Louise and DelRay attended Calvary Baptist Church in Roseville, Minnesota, a church which they helped found. Upon DelRay’s retirement, they moved permanently to Crosslake, until 1994, when they moved to Cambridge, MN. After DelRay passed away, Louise moved to Renville for her final years. Louise loved people and loved to entertain company in her home. She was very active in whatever church she attended and her love for the Lord and her family was very evident in everything she did. She loved to bake and share her goodies and a cup of coffee with whoever stopped by. Louise is survived by her four children: son DelRay M. (Sandra) Peterson, Minnetonka, MN; daughter Lynne O’Keeffe, Phoenix, AZ; daughter Judy (Curt) Groen, Renville, MN; daughter Lori (Stephen) Dando, Nairobi, Kenya, 11 grandchildren, Christopher (Alissa) Peterson, Beth Peterson, Allison O’Keeffe, Sean O’Keeffe, Josh (Elyssa) O’Keeffe, Christian O’Keeffe (Jeff Aho), Jennifer (David) Maldonado, Sara (Mike) Oosterhouse, Amy Groen, Elliot (Erin) Dando, Eion (Julie) Dando, 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, DelRay, brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Genevieve Joonson, and two brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
