Lorraine Knapper Obituary

Lorraine Knapper, age 93 of Clara City, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 25, at the Clara City Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at the Roseland Reformed Church.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.

Lorraine Knapper was born on April 19, 1927, on the family farm site just east of Roseland, the daughter of Henry and Angeline (Van Den Einde) Bulthuis.  She grew up and received her education in the Roseland community.  On October 26, 1946, Lorraine was united in marriage to Alvin Knapper.  They were blessed with four children, Lowell, Roger, Jacklyn and Valerie.  They farmed south of Roseland, then Svea, then Pennock and finally back to Lorraine's birth place east of Roseland.  Lorraine was a homemaker all her life.  She was a charter member of the First Reformed Church in Willmar and then became a member of the Roseland Reformed Church.

Lorraine was a loving wife, cherished grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved her family and friends dearly.  She enjoyed embroidery, being part of the “Pairs & Spares” volunteer group with Clara City, visiting with friends, taking care of her grandchildren and baking (delicious breads, bars and the perfect chocolate chip cookies for her family).

She is survived by her children, Roger (and Leann) Knapper of Clara City, Jacklyn (and Dave) Marcus of Debary, FL., and Valerie (and Tom) Dolezal of Lonsdale; one daughter-in-law, Connie Knapper of Willmar; twelve grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, Jim Bulthuis; two sisters-in-law, Beth Johnson and Janet Knapper; one brother-in-law, Randall Knapper; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in December of 2015; one son, Lowell Knapper; her twin brother, Lloyd Bulthuis; one great granddaughter, Lily Sachs; her parents; one sister, Emma Zuidema; and many sisters and brothers-in-law.
