Junior E. Niewenhuis, age 85, of Prinsburg, died Monday afternoon, June 2, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Willmar. Service will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, June 7, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. The interment will be in Holland Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 PM Friday at Tri-County Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. Junior Earl Niewenhuis was born on October 31, 1928 on the family farm in Holland Township, the son of John and Gertrude (Zuidema) Niewenhuis. He grew up on the family farm in the Prinsburg area and received his education in the District 88 country school. He was baptized and professed his faith in the Prinsburg Christian Reformed church where he served as elder and deacon. He also served on the school board of the Central Minnesota Christian school. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Apol on October 6, 1950. They lived on and operated the family farm until his retirement in 1998 when they moved to Prinsburg. In retirement he sold DeKalb seed corn and enjoyed many hours at Lake Florida with his grand-children. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Prinsburg, one son, Randall (and Carol) Niewenhuis of Minnetonka and two daughters; Jolene (and Bruce) Aardsma of Dyer, Indiana and Pamela (and Larry) Rogers of Lino Lakes. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one sister, Nyla (and Don) Wieberdink of Prinsburg, besides other relatives and friends. Junior was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Christine Joy Aardsma and one sister, Eunice Droge.
