Josie Swart, age 93, of Prinsburg, passed away Tuesday evening, October 1, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, at First Christian Reformed in Prinsburg. Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 4, at First Christian Reformed Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Josie was born on July 5, 1931, near Prinsburg, Minnesota, the daughter of Garriet and Anna (Hoffman) Marcus. She grew up on a farm near Prinsburg and received her education in a country school. On January 8, 1953, Josie was married to Stanley “Bud” Swart and they made their home in Willmar. In 1964, they moved to a farm near Roseland. In 2004, they sold the farm and moved into Prinsburg. Josie was a hardworking homemaker and wife. She helped out on the farm with field work and any other duties that needed to be done. She was a life-long member of First Christian Reformed Church and was active with the women’s quilting group. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, flowers, gardening, cooking, camping with friends and traveling with Stanley on many bus tours. She also enjoyed playing the piano and accordion by ear.
She is survived by her children, Jolene Tonn of Madison, Loren Swart of Raymond, Sheila (and Jerry) Blokzyl of Raymond, Joan (and Brad) Field of Maple Grove and Dan (and Linda) Swart of Willmar; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and one brother, Gerald (and Kathy)) Marcus of Willmar; besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley in 2012; son, Larry in 1992; grandson, Robert in 2012; great grandson, Cayden in 2009; brothers, Dick, Francis, Calvin and William; and sisters, Anne, Selma and Eleanor.
