Joan Marcus Obituary

  , age 81, of Raymond, died Tuesday evening, June 18, at her home in Raymond.   Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.  Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery in Prinsburg.  Visitation will be at 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 1, at First Christian Reformed Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Memorials are preferred to the First Christian Reformed Church Radio Broadcast.  Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.   was born March 28, 1938, in Raymond, Minnesota, the daughter of Everett and Frieda (Grussing) Buss.  She grew up in rural Raymond and was baptized and confessed her faith at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. She attended rural school and later Clara City Elementary School before graduating from Raymond High School in 1956.  Joan then attended Minneapolis Business College, graduating in 1957.  She worked for the State Employment Service prior to her marriage.  On March 3, 1961, she married Henry Marcus at Bethany Reformed Church and they lived and farmed near Raymond.  After her children were grown, Joan worked in the office at the West Central Tribune for over 20 years, retiring  in 1993.  In 1997, Joan moved from the farm into Raymond, where she has lived since.   Joan was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.  She taught Sunday School, folded church bulletins, and volunteered at the New 2 You Thrift Store.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and baking, especially chocolate chip cookies for the grandchildren.  She also enjoyed attending church suppers and senior dinners in Raymond.   Joan is survived by five sons: Arlen (Barbara) Marcus of Woodbury, MN, Gary (Dianne) Marcus of Cedar Hill, TX, Randy (Laura) Marcus of Prinsburg, MN, Ron (Mary) Marcus of Raymond, MN, and Joel (Julianne) Marcus of Glen Allen, VA; 14 grandchildren (Katie, Allison, Evan, Hannah, Jennifer, Britney, Kayla, Ryan, Lizzy, Patrick, William, Heather, Missy, and Adam); and three great-grandchildren (Jackson, Rosemary, and Christopher). Also surviving are a brother: Jerry Dykhoff of Hopkins, MN; a sister-in-law: Grace Marcus of Raymond, MN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather: John Dykhoff; her husband: Henry in 1989; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dick T. and Grace Marcus, Anthony Marcus, John T. and Sandy Marcus, Jennie and Roy Rhuby, Sadie and John Knapper, and Johanna and Matt Aeikens, Bonnie Dykhoff, and one nephew: Dustin Dykhoff.
