Janet Dugstad Obituary

  passed away peacefully at Rice Care Center, in Willmar, Minnesota on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.   Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar.  Interment will be at Emden Cemetery near Renville.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, at Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorials are preferred to V.F.W. Post 1639.   Janet (Jeanette, as she was known to her family) was born on April 17, 1925 on the family farm near Renville to John and Hilke (Santjer) Ryks.  She attended the country school with her brothers and sisters. She moved to Willmar and worked at Willmar Poultry, where she met her husband, Bill.  They were married on November 9, 1950 in Raymond, MN.      Bill and Janet made their home in Willmar where their three children were born, Sharon, Nancy and Gregory.  They moved to New Hope in 1960 and returned to Willmar in 1968, where they lived for the remainder of their years.      Janet was head of housekeeping for many years at Willmar Holiday Inn and then at Rice Hospital.  She retired from Leaders at the age of 77.    She enjoyed needlework, knitting, crocheting, embroidery and reading.  But most of all spending time with her family.     She is survived by daughters Sharon Brennan of Cottage Grove, MN; Nancy Dugstad of Willmar, MN and son, Greg Dugstad of Willmar, MN. Grandchildren Douglas Watson of Cottage Grove, Stephanie (Matthew) Newman of Farmington, MN, Erica Ellestad of Litchfield MN, Jennifer Ryan and special friend Bob Maleska of Avon, MN. , Alicia ( Tim) Hitzler of St Cloud,  MN , Sara Hoffman of St Cloud, MN  and Stephen (and Tonya) Dugstad of St Cloud, MN, twelve great-grandchildren Luke, Jacob and David Newman; Averi  and Kadyn Ellestad; Levi and Abbie Volkenant; Amara and Ava Hitzler; Brandon, Dylan and Jordan Dugstad; Dallas and Jordan Hoffman,  family friend Nancy Norsten , along with many nieces and nephews.     She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Dugstad, son-in-law Timothy Brennan, great- granddaughter Adriannah Hitzler, parents John and Hilke Ryks, brothers George, Fred, John, Hilko,  Ted, Bennie, Willem, and William (Bill) Ryks Sr.; sisters Carrie Negen, Fannie Groen, Amy Rushen,  Tillie Hinderks,  and Annie Bulthuis. She will be greatly missed by her family.
