Irene Bonnem Obituary

a May 11, 1924  -  January 14, 2015   a, age 90,  of Willmar, formerly of Prinsburg, passed away Wednesday, January 14, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar surrounded by her loved ones.     Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 19, at Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.  Interment will be in the Holland Township Cemetery in Prinsburg.  Visitation will be 5-8 PM Sunday, January 18, at Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg and one hour prior to the service on Monday.  Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg (www.tricountyfuneral.com). Irene was born May 11, 1924, in Renville, Minnesota, to George and Dena (Hoogerman) Negen.  She grew up in the Renville area and graduated from Renville High School. On August 27, 1942, she married Edwin Bonnema.  Their union was blessed with five children, Sandra, Wallace, Loralee, Vicki, and Randy.  Edwin and Irene farmed for many years in the Prinsburg area, retiring in 1980. Irene was very involved with Central Minnesota Christian School, volunteering for several organizations.  She was an active member of Unity Christian Reformed Church. Edwin and Irene moved to Willmar in 1990.  They spent their winters in Arizona, where Irene volunteered at Boswell Hospital in Sun City.  She loved golfing, bowling, playing cards, and dominos with their friends.  Irene loved spending time and helping her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three children: Lori (and Nathan) Herrboldt of Willmar, Vicki (and David) Constans of Willmar, and Randy (and Kathy) Bonnema of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren: Leah, Isaac (and Kristen), Annie, Rich (and Kristen), Elias, Tori (and Sam), Alicea, and Ryan; and ten great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are four sisters-in-law: Goldie Negen, Dorothy Blokzyl, Bonnie Negen, and Sadie Negen; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.     She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, two children; Sandra and Wallace Bonnema, her husband, Edwin, four brothers: Henry, Dick, Donald, and Gordon Negen, and one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Lewis Ledeboer.
