Herman Ivan Brouwer was the son of Egbert U. and Trena (Meyer) Brouwer.  He was born on April 23, 1942 in Rheiderland Township.  He grew up on the family farm near Bunde and received his education at Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg where he graduated in 1960. After high school, he served briefly in the U.S. Army. Herman was united in marriage to Eunice Ahrenholz on August 16, 1963 at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City.  They made their home and farmed their entire life together near Raymond. Herman was a member of Bethany Reformed Church and was active as a deacon and elder.  He also served on the board of the Southern Minnesota Sugar Beet Co-Op.

Herm loved his family well.  He was known for his calm, genuine nature and his kids and grandkids adored his laugh. Herm enjoyed the outdoors by bow hunting, spear fishing and snowmobiling. In his retirement, he found great satisfaction in attending to his garden. He loved time spent at the cabin on the water or around the bonfire, as well as simply enjoying a piece of pie and coffee with Euni, his family and friends. He demonstrated his faith by trusting God would always provide in His timing throughout his life as a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice, four children and 13 grandchildren, Kresson (David) Gruthusen of Dyer, IN, Tyler (Madison), Jordan and Talia Gruthusen, Jeffrey (Angie) Brouwer of Raymond, Ryan (Mary), Ethan, Isaac and Ashlyn Brouwer, Jason (Kim) Brouwer of Raymond, Kennedy (fiancé Aaron Zwart) and Erin Brouwer, Nathan (Sari) Brouwer of Minneapolis, Alivia and Ty Brouwer; two brothers, Julius (Rosie) Brouwer of Raymond and Del (Marcia) Brouwer of Spicer; two sisters, Ida (Roger) Sterk of Grand Rapids, MI and Grace (Ken) Vos of Rio Verde, AZ; one sister-in-law Jan (Richard) Nelson of Willmar; and one brother-in-law, Dave Evink of Hancock, along with many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a child in infancy; one brother, Ivan V. Brouwer; and one sister, Melinda Evink.
