Helen Mulder, age 84, of Willmar, died Saturday, July 5, at Bethesda Sunrise Village in Willmar. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Willmar Christian Reformed Church. Interment will be at the Emden Christian Reformed Cemetery in Renville. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Central Minnesota Christian School or the New 2 You Thrift Store. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg (tricountyfuneral.com). Helen (Hoogeveen) Mulder was born on May 7, 1930 to Henry and Gertrude (Roelofs) Hoogeveen in Prinsburg, Minnesota in Kandiyohi County. She attended Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg through 8th grade and graduated from Clara City High School in 1947. She attended Teacher Training in Montevideo for one year. Helen taught for three years - a year in District 8 of Roseland Township and two years in District 103. On December 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Delmar Mulder at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. They were blessed with 3 children Bruce, Sharon and Gail. She was a member of the Emden Christian Reformed Church in Renville for 40 years. Helen, along with her husband, farmed in the Renville/Danube area until their retirement in 1995. At that time, they moved to Willmar, where they became members of the Willmar Christian Reformed Church. Helen loved to bake, along with gardening and canning to make sure there was enough food for her family to make it through the winter months. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen worked in Central Minnesota Christian School hot lunch program for 12 years and also the Roosevelt School in Willmar. Helen volunteered at the New 2 You Thrift Store, worked with Friendship Ministries and Crossroad Prison Ministries and was a member of Senior Bible group. Helen is survived by her children: Bruce (and Donna) Mulder of Willmar, Sharon (and Robert) Schwitters of Clara City, and Gail (and Joel) Roelofs of Allendale, MI; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry (and Lydia) Hoogeveen of Willmar and Stan (and Clara) Hoogeveen of Sully, IA; sisters, Eva (and Lester) Brouwer and Lorraine Hoogeveen, both of Willmar; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar in 2012; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Angie (and Rob) Gort and Esther (and Tony) Zondervan; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Mulder; and three great-grandchildren, Evan Schwitters, Eric Schwitters, and Norah Roelofs.
