Harlan A. Asche, age 80, of Raymond, passed away Sunday, February 9, at CentraCare Rice Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, February 14, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Harlan Allen Asche was born on April 19, 1944, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Henry Jr. and Dorothy (Ulferts) Asche. He grew up in the Raymond community and graduated from Raymond High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. On April 11, 1969, Harlan was married to Jayne Ver Steeg and they made their home in the Raymond community. He was engaged in farming for most of his life. He also worked for 10 years at Cash Wise in the meat department and most recently at Roelofs Meat market in Raymond. He was a member of Bunde Christian Reformed Church and the Raymond American Legion Post. He enjoyed fishing, collecting antique tractors, nature and bird watching. Harlan also enjoyed traveling on bus tours across the U.S. and spending time with his beloved children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Jayne; five children, Connie (and Tim) Green of Spear Fish, SD., Colleen (and Todd) Burghgraef of Caledonia, MI., Carmen Asche of Bloomington, Michael (and Ida) Asche of Marshall and Amy (and Gary) Dykstra of Jamestown, MI.; thirteen grandchildren, Ashton Bevans, Tyce (and Keerstyn) Dykstra, Kendra (and Clayton) Zemaitis, Jacob Green, Levi Green, Aden Green, Erin (and Duncan) Van Keulen, Zach Burghgraef, Jess Burghgraef, Jared Burghgraef, Tristin Asche, Winston Asche and Taya Asche; three great grandchildren, Brady Zemaitis, James Dykstra and Miles Dykstra; and one brother, Marvin (and Teri) Asche of Raymond, besides other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and David Asche.
