Grace Marcus, age 91, of rural Raymond, passed away Tuesday, September 9, at her residence under hospice care.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg. www.tricountyfuneral.com
Grace Marcus was born to Herman and Elizabeth (Zimmer) Meyer on October 8, 1933, in rural Raymond, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm near Raymond and was baptized and professed her faith at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. She attended country school for 8 years, then 2 years at Central Minnesota Christian School and finished her last 2 years at Raymond High School, graduating in 1952. Grace immediately started her nursing career education in a classroom at Rice Memorial Hospital. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1953. She worked as an LPN in the baby nursery at Rice Memorial Hospital.
On December 3, 1954, Grace was united in marriage to Anthony Marcus at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. They made their home on the family farm and were blessed with 7 children, Bradley, JoAnn, Timothy, Donna, Karen, Thomas and Philip. Grace enjoyed helping on the farm, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her seven children, Bradley Marcus, JoAnn (and David) Van Veldhuizen, Timothy (and Sheri) Marcus, Donna (and Brendan) Knapper, Karen (and Don) Tinklenberg, Thomas Marcus and Philip (and Michelle) Marcus; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Minnie Folkerts; five brothers, John (Mildred) Meyer, Carl (Lavonne) Meyer, Paul (Carol) Meyer, Herman (Barb) Meyer; and a sister-in-law, Rose Meyer; besides many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony in 1999; two sisters, Harriet (and John) Ruschen and Elizabeth (and Delwin) Schwitters; two brothers, Ray and Harry; brother-in-law, Boyd Folkerts; and great-grandchild VanVeldhuizen.
