Gladys Van Den Einde

Gladys Van Den Einde, age 96, of Willmar, died Thursday morning, November 14, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, at Roseland Reformed Church.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, at First Reformed Church in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service in Roseland.  Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.  

Gladys was born July 9, 1923, on the family farm north of Roseland, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Kohrs) Brouwer.  She grew up in the Roseland community and attended District 90 School near Roseland.  She then attended Willmar High School, graduating in 1941.  On June 27, 1941, she married Gordon “Bud” Van Den Einde.  They farmed her parents’ farm for several years.  Bud later became Postmaster in Blomkest and they moved into Blomkest.  Gladys worked as a postal clerk and also worked at the Blomkest Food Market for many years,  She retired from the Post Office in 1987.  Bud died in 2000 and in 2008, Gladys moved to West View Village in Willmar.  She resided the past several years at Bethesda Nursing Home.   Gladys was a member of Roseland Reformed Church and had attended First Reformed Church the past few years.   She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.  Gladys enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and fishing with Bud.  

She is survived by three sons: Robert (and Carol) Van Den Einde of Willmar, Jerry (and Lynda) Van Den Einde of Blomkest, and Gene (and Beth) Van Den Einde of Willmar; six grandchildren: Todd (and Sara) Van Den Einde, Shannon (and Ron) Dorf, Marni (and Cormac) Dunning, Jamie (and Aaron) Groth, Caleb Van Den Einde, and Austin (and Kayla) Van Den Einde; nine great-grandchildren: Travis Dorf, Hayden Dorf, Josie Dorf, Jake Van Den Einde, Hanna Van Den Einde, Kylie Dunning, Darbi Dunning, Mackenzie Groth, and Cameron Groth; and other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Gordon “Bud” Van Den Einde; and three sisters: Esther, Eleanor, and Louise.
