Gerald Tebben Obituary

Gerald K. Tebben, age 80, of Prinsburg, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 25, at his residence in Prinsburg.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.  Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Kerkhoven.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg and will continue of one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the CMCS Foundation or Rice Hospice are preferred.  Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.  www.tricountyfuneral.com  

 

Gerald Kenneth Tebben was born on July 2, 1939, on the family farm near Clara City, Minnesota, the son of John and Caroline (Bush) Tebben.  He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church.  At a young age, the family moved to the Kerkhoven community where he grew up.  Gerald graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1957 and became engaged in farming.  He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.  On February 22, 1963, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Renville, Gerald was united in marriage to Eunice Feldman and they made their home on a farm south of Kerkhoven.  While living in Kerkhoven, Gerald was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a board member for Woods Township, United Farmers Elevator and 4-H.  On November 24, 1990, Gerald was united in marriage to Mavis Bulthuis.  They lived on his parents farm south of Kerkhoven until moving to Prinsburg in 1994.  In 1991, Gerald began employment at Willmar Manufacturing until his retirement in 2001.  From 2001 to 2015, he worked part-time helping Steve Bulthuis with farm work.  Gerald was an active member of First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.  He served as a board member of Tri-County Funeral Home and was a member of the Raymond American Legion Post.  Gerald enjoyed spending many winters in McAllen, Texas.  His hobbies included woodworking, puzzles and antique cars and tractors.  

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Mavis Tebben of Prinsburg; four children, Jeffrey (and Cheryl) Tebben of Kerkhoven, Tracy (and Kathy) Tebben of New London, Darcy (and Scott) Morse of Sabin and Bethany (and Rob) Burbank of Rutherfordton, NC.; four step-children, Steven Butlhuis of Prinsburg, Nancy Bonnema (and fiancé, Jack Van Garderen) of Largo, FL., Bonnie Vruwink of Pensacola, FL., and Ron (and Rae Jean) Bulthuis of Prinsburg; nine grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and twelve step-great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, Dennis (and Barbara) Tebben of Apple Valley, besides many other relatives and friends.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eunice in 1985 and stepson-in-law, Michael Vruwink.
