Emma Zuidema Obituary

Emma Zuidema August 18, 1923—June 8, 2015 Emma Zuidema, age 91, of Willmar, died Monday morning, June 8, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.   Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, at Roseland Reformed Church.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at Roseland Reformed Church and one hour prior to the service.  Emma Zuidema was born on August 18, 1923, in Roseland, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Angeline (Van Den Einde) Bulthuis.  She grew up and received her education in Roseland.  On January 28, 1942, Emma was united in marriage to Bernard Zuidema.  They lived and farmed their entire life in the Roseland community.  Emma worked with Bernard on the family farm and as a homemaker.  Bernard passed away in 2004.  In 2011, Emma moved into the West View Village in Willmar.  She was a lifelong member of the Roseland Reformed Church and was active as a Sunday school teacher and with Womens’ Guild and Circle.  Emma enjoyed baking, gardening, crocheting and reading.  She had a special gift of helping others in a time of need. She is survived by her five children, Kathy (and Ardell) Tepfer of Danube, Judy (and Hassan) Dallal of Wheaton, IL., Byron Zuidema of Washington, D.C., Marlene (and Joe) Schnichels of The Villages, FL., and Darla (and Terry) Slagter of Roseland; thirteen grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.  Also surviving is one sister, Lorraine (and Alvin) Knapper of Roseland and one brother, Jim (and Dorothy) Bulthuis of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Lloyd Bulthuis and one sister-in-law, Arlene Aalderks.
