Ellen Bonnema May 12, 1926 - May 17, 2016 Ellen Bonnema, age 90, of Prinsburg, died Tuesday evening, May 17, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday May 21, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. The interment will be in the Holland Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM at Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg and one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg or Children Of The Promise. Ellen Bonnema was born on May 12, 1926, on the family farm near Prinsburg, the daughter of Louis and Alice (Roelofs) Meyer. She grew up in the Prinsburg community and received her education at the Christian School in Prinsburg. On March 5, 1946, Ellen was united in marriage to Edward J. Bonnema Sr. and they made their home in Prinsburg. Due to Edward’s work they moved in 1948 to Delft, then Granite Falls, Mountain Lake, Hopkins and in 1957 they returned to Prinsburg. Ellen moved into the Bethesda Heritage Center in July of 2015. She was a life long member of First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg and was active in the Missions Club. Ellen enjoyed sewing, needlework, reading and visiting with family and friends. Ellen is survived by her children, Bruce (and Linda) Bonnema of Arvada, CO, Nora (and Gary) Ziehl of Raymond, MN, Brian (and Linda) Bonnema of Canyon Lake, TX, and E.J. (and Gail) Bonnema of Circle Pines, MN. 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Eugene (and Ann) Bonnema of Prinsburg and sister-in-law, Marge Bonnema of Jenison, MI, besides other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward in 2002; granddaughter Stephanie Richards and great grandson Angel Guerrero; brothers Gerritt and Henry Meyer, and sister Nancy Blom.
