Douglas J. Ledeboer, age 60, of Prinsburg, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, July 5, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital from an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 12, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, at the Tri-County Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Douglas Jon Ledeboer was born on October 18, 1960, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Phyllis (Plowman) Ledeboer. He grew up in the Prinsburg community, graduated from CMCS in 1979 and then began working for Norling Brothers Construction building pole barns. On January 3, 1987, Douglas was married to Melissa Schalmo. To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Sierra and Bethany. They made their home in Prinsburg and were later divorced. On January 17, 1998, Douglas was married to Julie Cofer. He welcomed another daughter, Jena and they made their home in Prinsburg. From 1983 to 2003, Douglas was employed at PRINSCO and was forced into early retirement due to ill health. He was a life member of the First Christian Reformed Church. Douglas enjoyed his Honda Goldwing motorcycle and red Chevy Camaro. He also enjoyed camping, cooking, his family dogs and spending time with all his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; three daughters, Sierra (and Dylan) Hauer of Alexandria, Bethany Block of Olivia and Jena Torkelson of Raymond; and eight grandchildren, Landon, Harvey, Eleanora and Delbert Hauer, Rylan and Tayla Block, Kaylin Torkelson and Autumn Cofer. Also surviving is his mother, Phyllis Ledeboer of Prinsburg and two brothers, DuWayne Ledeboer of Raymond and Delton (and Brenda) Ledeboer of Fountain, CO., besides other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert and two stillborn grandchildren, Abigail and Watson Hauer.
