Delores A. Meyer

                 , age 71, of Clara City, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 21, at her residence surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness.   Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 25, at Bunde Christian Reformed Church.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice.  Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.   Delores Ardelle Meyer was born April 15, 1947, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Helene (Eekhoff) Gehrke.  She grew up in Clara City, was baptized at Bethany Reformed Church and graduated from Clara City High School in May 1965.  Shortly after graduation, she was united in marriage to Merlyn Meyer on June 18, 1965, at Bethany Reformed Church.  They made their home on a farm east of Clara City, where Merlyn and Delores lived until her passing.  To their marriage were born five children.   Delores was a member of Bunde Christian Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active with Ladies Aid.  She was well known for her custom birthday cakes, baking a cake for every child and grandchild for their birthday.  She remembered all of her friends’ and family’s birthdays and would always send a handwritten card.  She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning and freezing her produce.  She also very skilled at embroidery and spent countless hours creating embroidery cloths for her children, grandchildren, and other family and friends.  Delores dearly loved her family and spent a lot of time in prayer for them.   She is survived by her husband, Merlyn Meyer; son, Brent (and Audrey) Meyer of Doon, IA, and their children: Blake (and Lanae), Alexa (and fiancé Marcus Van Engen), Caleb, Sierra, Brooke, and Reuben; son, Brian (and Peggy) Meyer of Clara City, MN, and their children: Jesse (and Amy) and Tiffany; son,  Troy (and Deb) Meyer of Clara City, MN, and their children: Emma, Micah, and Seth; daughter, Naomi (and Shawn) Koenen of Clara City, MN, and their children: Alison, Elizabeth, and Sadie; and son, Brandon (and Heidi) Meyer of Raymond, MN, and their children: Peyton, Carson, Dillon, and Afton.  Also surviving are two brothers, Roger (and Mary) Gehrke of Fridley, MN and Steven (and Lois) Gehrke of New Ulm, MN; three sisters, Inez (and Ed) Heggerston of Grand Forks, ND, Lavonne Lucas of Cheyenne, WY, and Linda (and Lyle) Docken of Maynard, MN; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Helene Gehrke; a sister, Elaine Gehrke Sweep; and a brother-in-law, James Lucas.
