Corrine Bonnema Obituary

Corrine Bonnema May 31, 1942—May 16, 2016   Corrine Bonnema, age 73, of Willmar, died Monday evening, May 16, at her home in Willmar following a 22 1/2 year battle with Parkinson's Disease.   Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 23, at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar.  Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery in Prinsburg.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice or Central Minnesota Christian School. Corrine Mae Bonnema was born May 31, 1942,  at home in rural Clara City to Harry and Marie (Schwitters) Ammermann.  She grew up and received her education in the Clara City community, graduating from Clara City High School in 1960.  On August 31, 1962, she married Gary Bonnema at Bunde Christian Reformed Church and they made their home in Prinsburg.  They later moved to Iowa before returning to Prinsburg in 1969.  They moved to Willmar in 1995.    Corrine worked as an interior designer and her design skills can be seen in many area homes.  She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Willmar, where she was active with the youth and Bible study and also sang in the choir participating in many Nights of Music performances.   Her hobbies included reading, sewing and of course spending time with her granddaughters.  She also enjoyed mentoring many young women and touched many lives even after struggling with Parkinson’s Disease.   She is survived by her husband, Gary; two children, Chad (and Joy) Bonnema of Grand Rapids, MI, and Jill (and Steve) Blom of Prinsburg; three granddaughters, Brittany Blom of Sioux Falls, SD, Kari Blom (and special friend, Sam Asfahl) of Prinsburg, and Meikea Bonnema of Grand Rapids, MI; three brothers, Gordon (and Karen) Ammermann of Fairfield Bay, AR, Wallace (and Gail) Ammermann of Lake Lillian, and Willis (and Jolene) Ammermann of Renville; two sisters, Dorothy (and John) Aalderks of Renville, and Marjorie (and Myron) Bonnema of Prinsburg; a brother-in-law, Melvin Marcus of Prinsburg; a sister-in-law, Clarice Ammermann of Clara City; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard (and Gladys) Ammermann, and Harley Ammermann; a sister, Elaine Marcus; and a brother-in-law, Richard Marcus.
