Arline JoAnn Mulder, age 99, of Prinsburg, died Friday, April 18, at Bethesda Heritage Center Nursing Home in Willmar. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery in Prinsburg. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at First Christian Reformed Church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg (www.tricountyfuneral.com). Memorials are preferred to Central Minnesota Christian School or First Christian Reformed Church. Arline was born June 7, 1914, in Roseland, Minnesota, the daughter of Arnold and Jeanette (Poortvliet) Plowman. She grew up in the Roseland area and attended country school. In June 1932, she married Henry Bonnema and they had three children, Clifford, Sharon and Roxanne. They later moved to Prinsburg, where they owned and operated Bonnema Electric. Henry died in 1945 and Arline continued to operate Bonnema Electric. In December 1948, she married Henry Mulder who had four children, Esther, Maxine, Gerald, and Viola. Arline and Henry wintered in Sun City, Arizona for several years and Arline continued to winter there after Henry's death in 1991. Arline was able to live on her own until November 2013, when she moved to Bethesda. Arline's greatest joy was receiving visits and phone calls from family and friends. She loved having company and serving a cup of coffee with a cookie or sweet. Arline was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where she was active in Mission Club and taught Calvinettes, Catechism and Sunday School. She also mentored a Japanese woman and Vietnamese family who relocated to the United States. Arline was very creative and loved working with her hands and enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting and needlework. She painted several murals and also painting advertising for businesses. She sewed clothes for her children and also vintage doll clothes. She also collected antique dolls and was a member of doll clubs in both Minnesota and Arizona. She is survived by her seven children, Clifford (and Helena) Mulder of Pipestone, Esther Dykstra of Randolph, WI, Maxine (and George) Deneke of Sun City, AZ, Sharon (and Rev. Lowell) Arndt of Willmar, Gerald Mulder of Saginaw, TX, Viola (and Glenn) DeStigter of Ankeny, IA, and Roxanne (and Vernon) Marcus of Prinsburg; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Bob Plowman of Hutchinson and Fritz Plowman of Excelsior; a brother-in-law, Edwin (and Louella) Mulder; two sisters-in-law, Liz Mulder and Clara Mae Mulder; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Henry Bonnema in 1945 and Henry Mulder in 1991; a granddaughter, Kolleen K. Mulder; a great-granddaughter, Michelle; a brother, Jacob; and five sisters, Nellie, Annie, Marion, Blanche, and Henrietta.
