Alvin Hoogheem, age 84, of Roseland, passed away Saturday evening, June 13, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, at the Roseland Reformed Church in Roseland. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at the Roseland Reformed Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Alvin Hoogheem was born on June 16, 1935, on the family farm in Renville County, Minnesota, the son of Bert and Angie (Damhof) Hoogheem. He grew up in the rural Roseland area and graduated from Danube High School in 1954. On February 25, 1958, Alvin was united in marriage to Eleanor Narragon and they made their home in the Roseland community. Alvin worked at the Blomkest Elevator and Roseland Elevator prior to becoming a truck driver for Prinsco for 19 years. Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, socializing, driving around in the country and spending time with his family, especially the granddaughters, Ashley and Natalie.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of 62 years; two children, Verdelle (and Dave) Marcus of Willmar and Glen (and Mary) Hoogheem of Brooklyn Park; two granddaughters, Ashley Hoogheem and Natalie Hoogheem; besides several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wilbur at a young age.
